Honor parts announced at Katahdin High School

SHERMAN STATION — Valedictorian for the Katahdin High School Class of 1998 is Heather Unterreiner, daughter of Gary and Renee Unterreiner of Sherman Mills. Unterreiner was treasurer for the National Honor Society, a peer tutor, yearbook staff member and member of the art club. She has participated in student council, Cougarfest, prom committee, Outing Club, science fair, Telequiz team and intramurals. She also participated in Close-Up Washington and volunteered as basketball manager. She has been accepted by Colby College, Waterville.

Salutatorian is Travis Gould, son of John and Carlene Gould of Sherman Mills. Gould was a member of the National Honor Society, a peer tutor, and participated in Cougarfest all four years. He has participated in basketball, baseball and intramurals. Gould will attend the University of Maine to study physics.

During graduation exercises held at 10 a.m. June 6 at the Katahdin High School gymnasium, top class honors were awarded to Nicholas Jilek, Crystal Guiggey, Dawn Curtis, Alex Dyer, Erica Robinson, Jill Kelley, Melissa Coolong, Amanda Elwell and Nichole Hayden.
