COOPERSTOWN, N.Y. – The Maine Express is 2-0 after one day of competition in a 12-under national tournament at Cooperstown Dreams Park. In the first game Monday, Maine defeated Marlyand 7-5 behind Andrew Giobbi’s 3-for-3 day at the plate. Josh Stowell added a three-run homer, the team’s first.

In the first game Monday, Maine defeated Marlyand 7-5 behind Andrew Giobbi’s 3-for-3 day at the plate. Josh Stowell added a three-run homer, the team’s first. Steve Whitney fired three innings of one-hit relief to earn the win.
In the second game, Maine topped Illinois 3-1, with Zach Jacques pitching a four-hitter. Ryan Ackley slammed a two-run homerun for the Express, which plays teams from Idaho and California today.
