Brewer enjoyed a trio of wins, two at Coastal’s expense, in all-star baseball action Wednesday as the 11- and 12-year-old Little League, Junior League (age 13) and Senior League (14-15) teams won their tournament openers.
Other 11-12 action saw Bangor West edge crosstown rival Bangor East 4-3 in seven innings, Old Town rip Glenburn, and Holbrook top Hampden.
In other games, Waldo County’s 9-10 Little League stars downed Belfast in District 2 playoff action and Old Town’s 11-12 stars knocked off Glenburn in District 3.

At Walsh Field in Belfast, Kyle Harvey’s triple sparked Waldo County to the elimination-game win in District 2 action.
John Wentworth was the winning for Waldo County.
Anthony Gilmore slammed three singles and drove in two runs for Belfast.

At Old Town, Andy Robichaud pitched a one-hitter and Mike Boucavalas singled twice and drove in two in Old Town’s playoff win.
Tyler Trazuski singled twice and Alex Glossian tripled for an RBI for Old Town. Shawn Laplante singled for Glenburn’s lone hit.

At 13th Street, with two outs in the bottom of the seventh, Payson Nichols singled in Tyler Heber with the winning run for Bangor West.
Nate Hall doubled twice for the winners and Nick Estabrook singled in a run.
Jordan Heath singled, doubled and drove in one for Bangor East. Aaron Jankowski doubled in a run.

At Hampden, H.J. Hunter sent a solo homer and two-run blast over the fence, and also picked up the win on the hill for Holbrook.
Travis Stewart and Adam Boyle each doubled in two runs for Holbrook. Kenny Mayo singled twice for Hampden. Josh Jordan hit a two-run double.

At Hermon, baserunning was the difference as Josh Hawkes scored two runs and Kevin McAvoy and Nate Bond scored one run apiece for Brewer.
Hawkes singled and stole three bases. Kevin Kotredes and McAvoy each singled. Bond fanned 11 and yielded just four hits.
Matt Joy stole three bases and singled for Hermon. Brett Danforth, Brian McGinley and Eddie Marks all singled. Billy Bart also struck out 11 and allowed just three hits in the loss.

At Bangor, Adam Sheehan led the offensive outburst for Brewer, as he singled three times and scored three runs in a playoff win at Mansfield Complex.
Josh Kochis singled, doubled and scored two runs for Brewer. Josh Caldwell singled twice and scored, and Matt Sargent doubled with two RBIs. Adam Sheehan struck out eight in five innings of work.
Chris Sargent led Coastal with a single, doubled and a run scored. Mark Clapp tripled and drove in one.

At Bangor, Jason Harvey twirled a one-hitter and struck out nine in Brewer’s playoff win over Coastal at Mansfield Complex.
Harvey also tripled for the winners. Warren Chase singled twice and scored twice, and Justin Spencer singled and scored.
Travis Bannister singled for Coastal’s lone hit.
