Trenton scores 6 in 6th, beats Brewer> Acadians notch seventh straight victory

ELLSWORTH – Pinch-hitter Matt McFarland had two singles in a decisive six-run sixth-inning rally and Josh Sadlier came off the bench to hit a two-run homer in the inning as Trenton beat Brewer 11-8 in American Legion baseball action Thursday night.

It was the seventh straight win for the Acadians and the 13th of their last 15.

Ben Donaldson added a two-run single with Adam Meyer and McFarland each contributing run-scoring singles. McFarland had triggered the rally with a lead-off base hit.

Travis Bickford picked up the win in relief.

Meyer and Mike Worcester each had a pair of base hits along with McFarland. Meyer collected two RBIs, Worcester and McFarland had one each.

Rick McHale and Craig Harvey each doubled and singled for Brewer, which has now lost eight of its last 11 including four in a row this week. McHale had two RBIs and Harvey one.

Orono 5, Calais 2

At Orono, Jamie Kennedy pitched six innings of three-hit ball, striking out seven and giving up two runs to give Orono the win.

Tom Hite roped a double and Jason Folsom had two RBIs and a single for Orono.

Josh Porter paced Calais with an RBI single.

Waldo County 19, Skowhegan 6

At Camden, Joah Peck, Sazi Guthrie and Josh Pooler all hit home runs, as Waldo County sent 17 men to the plate in a 12-run sixth.

Peck hit a two-run single in the sixth, to go with a solo homer, two other singles, four RBIs and four runs scored for Waldo. Nate Hall singled twice, doubled, scored twice and drove in two. Guthrie solo homered, singled twice, scored three times and drove in three. Pooler hit a three-run homer.

Russ Peters singled twice, tripled, scored three times and drove in two for Skowhegan. Jesse Lecasse hit a two-run homer and singled.

At Hermon, Tom Carey pitched a three-hitter and David Utterback provided the offense for Bangor.

Utterback hit a three-run homer, doubled and singled to lead Bangor.

Calvin Texiera singled and scored two runs for Hermon. Wes Sands and Brody McKinney each singled.
