CALAIS – Skowhegan and Calais split an American Legion doubleheader Sunday afternoon, which was highlighted by Josh Thornton’s no-hitter in the first game.
In the first game, Calais shut out Skowhegan 4-0. The Log Drivers returned the favor in game two with an 8-1 win.
In the first game, Thornton struck out 10 and walked only two as Calais no-hit Skowhegan.
Alex Nicholas went 3-for-3 with three singles and an RBI for Calais.
In game two, Chad Strout held Calais to four hits while strito lift Skowhegan.
Strout ripped three singles for the Log Drivers, driving in two runs. Jake Burnham crushed a home run and double with two RBIs.
Glen Wood doubled to lead the Suns.

Trenton sweeps Bangor
At Bangor Saturday, the Trenton Acadians got healthy portions of hitting and pitching as they swept the Bangor Comrades on Saturday in American Legion action. Trenton took game one 22-4 and game two 6-2.
In game one, Rick McDonald banged out five hits to lift the Acadians into first place in the zone.
McDonald singled four times and doubled, scoring five runs and driving in three for the Acadians. Toby Cole doubled twice and singled with four RBIs. Matt McFarland singled, doubled twice and drove in three runs. Mike Worcester doubled and singled with three RBIs.
Chris Nill hit three singles for Bangor and Jeremy Karam lined an RBI triple
In the second game, Matt McFarland pitched a complete game, striking out five and allowing just two walks for Trenton.
Mike Worcester slammed a two-run homer in the first inning to lead Trenton. Mike Sirois singled three times and Ben Donaldson ripped a pair of singles and drove in a run.
Karam singled twice and doubled for the Comrades. David Utterback had a single and double.

Calais, Hermon split
At Hermon Saturday, the Calais Suns and Hermon Navigators split an American Legion doubleheader on Saturday. In the first game Hermon defeated Calais 6-5 and Calais bounced back in game two with a 6-3 win.
In game one, Matt Cox doubled in Calvin Teixeira in the bottom of the seventh to score the winning run as Hermon defeated Calais.
Cox pitched a complete game and struck out 13 batters for the Navigators. Wes Sands blasted a three-run home run and an RBI single. Teixeira doubled and singled.
Josh Thornton hit a double and two singles for Calais. Mike Ferguson singled twice.
In game two, the Suns posted a four-run fifth inning as they downed Hermon.
Ferguson doubled and singled to lead Calais. Alex Nichols ripped three singles.
Ryan White and Eric Reynolds each had a double and single to drive in a run.

Coastal sweeps Worcester Peat
At Heddericg Field Sunday, Brewer, Coastal Athletics’ pitchers allowed only eight hits over the course of a doubleheader as they swept Worcester Peat. Coastal took game one 5-2 and shut out Worcester Peat 5-0 in the second game.
In game one, Ron Girard limited Worcester Peat to three hits while striking out six and allowing only one walk.
Jim Dillon went 2-for-4 with two singles for Coastal Athletics. Joe Holland drilled an RBI single.
Robey Rhoads, Aaron Largay and Brian Hawks had one single each for Worcester Peat.
In the second game, Jeff Dutremble fired a five-hit shutout, striking out six to lead Coastal Athletics.
Gary Dube banged out three singles for Coastal. Chip Builderback tripled and singled.
Brian Goody hit two singles for Worcester Peat and Marc Halsted doubled.
