I would like to compliment Sharon Mack on a well-written story [“Charge against boy reduced,” BDN, July 23]. She did make a few errors as to who said what but I believe she got the message across very well as to how some of us feel. I would like to clearify a few things.

It was I who stated that I felt certain people involved were using this as a way to increase publicity because it is an election year. I hope people can see through such political schemes and use good judgment when attending the polls.

I have been paying close attention to this case because I have children and work with children in the Dexter school system. Even though some people don’t believe the school is being investigated, I know better. It may not be a state investigation but Superintendant [Gilbert] Reynolds is looking into all the complaints brought to him by parents and is working on fixing the problems he finds. I am one of the complaining parents therefore I am seeing this first hand.

I invite parents who have concerns to contact the superintendent and tell him about the complaints. Remember complaints given to community members will not get you anywhere, but given to the people within the system involved they may produce results. I believe the school is ready to listen.
