BANGOR DAILY NEWS (BANGOR, MAINE

This is in response to Don Muth’s letter of July 29. I will agree with his assessemnt that the July 20 Hampden Town Council meeting drew people with many different views . But fortunately, the continuation of the public hearing on Monday, Aug. 3 at 7 p.m. at the Reeds Brooks School will allow even more people to air their views and comments.

I hope everyone by now realizes how complex an issue this expansion is, but there are still many questions that need to be answered. To name a few: issues such as air quality, visual impact and long-term care once the 30-yearing monitoring period has ended.

So, Hampden residents, please come to the meeting on Monday and let your councilors know the zoning ordinance change, which would allow an expansion, should be a decision made by all the voters, not just members of the council. Christine Henderson Hampden
