Bell scores four as Hodgdon rolls

HODGDON – Adam Bell scored two of his four goals in an eight-minute span in the second half as Hodgdon topped Easton 7-2 in schoolboy soccer action Friday.

Bell scored three unassisted goals in the second half and tallied the first off a Mike Wallace feed. Wallace scored his own unassisted goal in the second. Elon Jepson had two goals, and B.J. Barton added an assist. Matt Allen made 13 saves on 19 shots for 3-0 Hodgdon.

Seth Harris and Ryan Lamoreau each tallied unassisted first-half goals for 1-3 Easton. Jeff Blackstone made 26 saves on 35 shots.

Van Buren 2, Ashland 0

At Van Buren, Mike Sirois and Channel Wright teamed up twice in the final 28 minutes to lead the Crusaders to the win.

Wright assisted Sirois on the first goal and Sirois returned the favor on the insurance goal. Senior goalkeeper Nathan Marquis made 16 saves on 35 shots for the 3-2 Crusaders.

Eric Kam made 10 saves on 24 shots for the 0-1 Hornets.

Washburn 5, Cen. Aroostook 2

At Washburn, Kyle Thibodeau scored a goal in the first half and added two more and an assist in the second as the Beavers grabbed the victory.

Frank Plucker scored two goals and Mark Kelley had two assists for 3-3-1 Washburn. Mark Blake, Andrew Blackstone and Thibodeau each added an assist. Nick Thompson stopped 21 of 27 shots.

Central Aroostook’s Wade Taylor scored the first goal of the game off a pass from Jordan Codrey. Mark Walsh added a goal on a penalty kick. Brad Walsh made 20 saves on 28 shots for the 1-3 Pioneers of Mars Hill.

Girls soccer

Easton 3, Southern Aroostook 0

At Easton, Amanda Jackson netted two second-half goals and Sara Hopkins came through with a first-half score and assist as Easton got the win.

Goalkeeper Mary Williams shut out the Warriors with six saves on six shots for the 2-2 Bears.

Rhonda Chambers stopped 21 of 25 for Southern Aroostook of Dyer Brook.

Houlton 4, Madawaska 1

At Houlton, Kelley Socoby scored two first-half goals, as the Shiretowners gave the Owls their first loss of the season.

Hannah Socoby scored an unassisted first-half goal for 2-1 Houlton. Becky Goodall put an Arelle Griffin pass in the net for the first score of the game. Jessica Prosser and Samantha Berry combined for five saves on nine shots.

Kristen Pelletier had 3-1 Madawaska’s lone goal, an unassisted score in the second half. Stephanie Gagnon had four saves on 14 shots.

Hodgdon 3, Washburn 1

At Hodgdon, Carrie Edwards netted two goals to lead the undefeated Hawks past the Beavers.

Amy Wallace recorded the assist on Edwards’ second goal, with the first coming unassisted. Courtney Kennedy also had an unassisted first-half tally just two minutes into the game. Danielle Fitzpatrick and Danielle Brown combined for eight saves on nine shots for 3-0 Hodgdon.

Liz Howard scored an unassisted goal with 44 seconds remaining for 2-4 Washburn. Amy Allen stopped 16 of the 21 shots she faced.

Van Buren 8, Ashland 0

At Van Buren, Kyla Laplante and Nicole Corbin combined for five goals in the Crusaders’ shutout.

The Crusaders scored six goals in the first half.

Laplante scored three goals, two on feeds from Lukey Gagnon. Corbin notched her goals on assists from Tracy Dionne and Nicole Sirois. Heather Parent, Sarah Ouellette and Kristy Wright each scored. Denise Marquis, Jessica Morin and Kristen Ayotte added assists. Kasey Viollette made four saves on four shots for 4-1 Van Buren.

Leslie Bessey and Kim Oakes combined for 11 saves on 25 shots for 1-1 Ashland.
