ORONO – Nikki Reed scored a pair of late goals to give the University of Maine women’s soccer team a season-opening 4-2 win over Charleston Southern at Alumni Field Tuesday.

Reed scored with 6:04 left in the game to snap the tie and added another goal with 18 seconds left.

Amy Quist, who had two assists, and Mary Miller assisted on the goals.

Molly Shea scored on a pass from Jill Cassie and Megan O’Hazo opened the scoring for the Black Bears at 59:15. Karyn McMullin and Mandy Cronin combined for one save on four shots.

Christi Arnold and Jennifer Sloan scored for Charleston Southern, now 0-1. Molly Shawcross made six saves on 18 shots.
