BC Pats open with win> Goals by Ossinger, Niles tip Greenville 2-1

BANGOR – Jessica Ossinger’s goal with 5:37 remaining in the game lifted the Bangor Christian Patriots to a 2-1 schoolgirl soccer win over the Greenville Lakers Thursday.

Ossinger scored on a pass from Laura Johnson to help the Patriots open the season with a win. Heidi Niles converted a first-half penalty kick to open the scoring. Lee-Ann Trottier turned away four of six shots.

Sarah Folsom tied the game with 24:47 remaining on a pass from Katheryn Bushey for 0-1 Greenville. Jessie Craft made 10 saves on 23 shots.

Mount View 3, Winslow 1

At Thorndike, Rachel Cochrane scored two goals on assists by Zahara Coddington and Nina Graham as Mount View improved to 3-0.

Graham added a goal off a Jenny Neves assist and Jessica Trundy saved five of 10 shots for the winners.

Erin Corey scored for 2-1 Winslow while Katie Poulin knocked away 12 of 18 shots.

Monmouth 3, Buckfield 2 (2OT)

At Monmouth, Jen Berube kicked in the game-winner on a penalty kick with 58 seconds left in the second overtime as Monmouth scored three unanswered goals in the comeback win.

Faith Flannery scored off a Heidi Jackson assist and Kara Pushard tied the game at 2-2 off an assist from Liz Thibodeau. Lisa Hasch and Katie Gauthier combined to save six of eight shots for 1-0 Monmouth Academy.

Jessica Henry scored twice off assists from Angela Damon for 1-1 Buckfield. Sandi Litchfield saved 26 of 35 shots.

Field hockey

Dexter 2, Orono 0

At Dexter, Kristy Veazie scored two goals off assists from Amanda Thompson to lead the undefeated Dexter Tigers to victory.

Christina Dorman did not face any shots for 3-0 Dexter.

Jenn Brooks knocked away seven of 14 shots for 0-2 Orono.

JV: Dexter 5, Orono 0

Foxcroft 6, Hermon 0

At Hermon, Davan Clawson and Hollie Nichols both had two goals to power Foxcroft Academy.

Shauna Gentry and Becky Warren each added a goal and Amy Kelly had an assist. Beth Lewis was perfect with five saves on five shots for the 3-0 Ponies.

Kacie Hutchinson stopped five of 11 shots for 1-1 Hermon.

JV: Dover-Foxcroft 5, Hermon 0

Central 0, Piscataquis 0 (2 OT)

At East Corinth, Jen Greatorex saved all 23 shots she faced for 1-1-1 Central.

Kalli Pulkkinen turned away all 13 shots she faced for 1-0-1 Piscataquis of Guilford.

Boys soccer

Hampden 3, John Bapst 0

At Hampden, Sam Bosse scored one goal and assisted on another, both in the first half, as the Broncos beat John Bapst of Bangor.

Bosse set up a Matt McInnis goal, then converted on a Patrick Woodcock assist. Tom Janicki, son of John Bapst coach Lou Janicki, scored the third goal for 1-2 Hampden Academy off a Max Brooks assist.

Josh Quint and Noah Peet combined to make 9 saves on 14 shots in recording the shutout.

Bill Chapman made 11 saves on 42 shots for the 1-1-1 Crusaders.

JV: Hampden 4, John Bapst 0

Central 3, Piscataquis 0

At Guilford, Ryan Rivera’s unassisted goal at the 15:10 mark of the first half proved to be enough as Central of East Corinth defeated Piscataquis.

Andy Koncinsky and Matt Koswell added unassisted goals for the 3-0 Red Devils. James Nickerson made eight saves on 16 shots.

Drake Martell stopped nine of 20 shots for 1-1-1 Piscataquis.

Searsport 3, Dexter 0

At Searsport, Joey Light scored twice and Pascoe Grove added a goal as the Vikings cruised to the win.

Light scored his first goal off a Scott Wancus assist and the second off a penalty kick. Nate Hall came up with nine saves on nine shots for 2-0 Searsport.

Ryan Robichaud turned away 12 of 18 shots for 1-2 Dexter.

Lee 4, Penobscot Valley 0

At Lee, Chris Carr scored twice as the Pandas cruised.

Matt Corbin and Chris Cole each added a goal and Charlie Worster had two assists for 4-0 Lee Academy. Travis Jacobs saved four of seven shots.

Ted Kajkowski made eight saves on 17 shots as Penobscot Valley of Howland fell to 7-1.

Penquis 3, DI-Stonington 1

At Deer Isle, Ben Knapp, Eric Ballash and Jeremy Allen each scored an unassisted goal for Penquis Valley.

Mike Grindle recorded six saves on 10 shots for the 2-1 Patriots of Milo.

Andy Eaton scored off an assist from Eric Ray for 0-3 Deer Isle-Stonington. Andy Bye stopped 11 of 19 shots.

Nokomis 5, Old Town 0

At Newport, Dave Richards scored three goals to lead the Warriors.

Trent Estes scored first for 1-2 Nokomis off an assist from Shawn Henderson. Justin Desrosiers netted the final goal off a Brian Hawthorne assist. Gavin Speaker had an assist and Tyler Peters turned away six of 10 shots.

Mike Morin made five saves on 22 shots for 0-1 Old Town.

Foxcroft 3, Orono 1

At Orono, Andy Lizzotte had a goal and an assist to help pace the Foxcroft Academy Ponies to the win.

Justin Clawson and Gordon Smith each scored a goal for the 2-1 Ponies. Mike Grant saved six of nine shots.

Ben Enos scored the only goal for 0-2-1 Orono. Mark Mehuren made 20 saves on 24 shots.

JV: Orono 2, Foxcroft 1

Hermon 7, Bucksport 0

At Hermon, Hawks goalkeeper Jeff Whitehouse turned away three of five shots as Hermon shut out Bucksport.

Chris Blier scored two goals for the 2-1 Hawks. Mike Dube added a goal and an assist. Kurt Calligan, Matt Riendeau, Chris Fernandez and Brandon Robinson each contributed a goal. Eric Pelletier assisted on two goals and Chad Pelton and Eion Pelletier each had one assist.

For Bucksport, 0-3, Tyson Grindle stopped 12 of 20 shots.

Islesboro 2, Chop Point 0

At Woolwich, Derek Johnson scored unassisted and David Cowan added a goal off a pass from Jonathan Bolduc to lead the Eagles.

Steven Shand saved seven of eight shots for 1-0 Islesboro.

Mike Perkins turned away 15 of 22 shots for 0-1 Chop Point.

Belfast 1, Rockland 1 (2 OT)

At Belfast, Greg Harjula scored off an assist from Shawn Stein tying the game at 1-1 with 21:31 left in regulation.

John O’Dell saved nine of 19 shots for 1-1-1 Rockland.

John Delehanty scored on a penalty kick for 0-1-2 Belfast at 26:57 left in the second half. Kevin Herbig turned away four of 13 shots.

JV: Belfast 1, Rockland 1

Winslow 3, Mount View 3 (OT)

At Winslow, Travis Bickford scored three unassisted goals in the first half before Mount View came back with three in the second to tie it.

Jason Bibeau made 11 saves on 21 shots for 1-1-1 Winslow.

Rich Mozeleski scored first for 0-1-2 Mount View of Thorndike. Morey Hallett converted a Luke Cote assist and Pete Taliaferro had the tying goal. Jake Von Oesen stopped 8 of 17 shots.

MCI 2, Erskine 1

At South China, Khano Smith scored two goals, the second of which was assisted by Josh Lambert, as Maine Central Institute earned the victory.

Shaun Souza saved nine of 11 shots for 2-0 MCI of Pittsfield.

Josh Howell scored with 30 seconds left in the game for 0-2 Erskine Academy. Mitch Donar made 13 saves on 30 shots.

Camden-Rock. 2, Lincoln Acad. 0

At Camden, Matt Lippman converted a Jon Moro assist at 11:56 in the first half to propel the 3-0 Windjammers.

Lukas McKittrick scored an insurance goal with 6:04 left in the first, while Jon Wilson stopped 10 of 14 shots to earn the shutout.

Joey Brooks stopped 13 of 16 shots for Lincoln Acadmey of Newcastle.
