OLD ORCHARD BEACH – Quarterback Rick Smith threw for two touchdowns and his Maine Central Institute Huskies of Pittsfield scored two more on interceptions in a 42-0 victory over Old Orchard Beach Saturday.
Matt York led the way on the ground for unbeaten MCI with two touchdowns.
Justin Cordwell led the Seagulls with five carries for 50 yards. Scott Melancon completed six of 13 passes for 33 yards and two interceptions. Matt Steller had nine tackles and two sacks.

At Brunswick, tailback Jim Pederson’s 47-yard punt return with 4:37 left in the game was the difference as the Dragons held on to the shutout.
Pederson finished with 110 yards on 25 carries and stood out defensively at free safety with 15 tackles, nine unassisted, and a fumble recovery. James Desmond recovered two fumbles for the Dragons and quarterback Josh Dionne was 4-for-8 with 76 yards and one interception.
The Witches took their opening possession 75 yards to the Brunswick 5, but could only creep as close as the 2 on their next three downs. A field goal attempt sailed wide left.
Robbie Kee led the way offensively with 70 yards on nine carries. Defensively, Asa Pickard led the team with 12 tackles, half of which were solo, Kee had an interception and the Witches forced five turnovers.
Brunswick drove to the Brewer 1-yard line on its final possession of the first half, but was stuffed on 4th-and-goal as Willie Sargent wrapped Pederson up in front of the endzone.

At Dexter, Justin Frizzell scored on runs of 32, 11, 6 and 6 yards as Boothbay defeated Dexter on Saturday afternoon.
Jay Spoon scored on a one-yard run for Boothbay, which piled up 415 rushing yards on 63 carries. Frizzell added four PATs – three rushes and one kick for a total of 31 points on the day.
Adam Paige rushed for 98 yards on 19 carries for the Tigers.

At Kittery, Rockland junior tailback Matt Wall rushed for 200 yards and two touchdowns on 25 carries to lead a Tigers’ rushing attack that racked up 415 yards.
Tigers fullback Donald Williams carried the ball 17 times for 169 yards. Defensively, linebackers Mike Weaver and Mike Ulvila led the defense with 15 combined tackles.

At Old Town, Monica Rowe registered the game-winning goal 14 minutes into the first half on an assist from Barbara Frost as Hermon defeated Old Town.
Frost added an unassisted goal for 2-1 Hermon with 29 minutes remaining in the game. Kacie Hutchinson stopped all nine shots she faced.
Kristin Osborne made nine saves on 11 shots for 1-1 Old Town.

At Islesboro, David Cowan scored two goals and assisted on another as Islesboro defeated Averill.
Cowan tallied an unassisted goal and scored on a pass from Derek Johnson for 2-0 Islesboro. Johnson added a goal with 9:57 left in the game on an assist from Cowan. Steven Shand made nine saves on 15 shots.
Ramon Cales stopped nine of 21 shots for 0-2 Averill.
MDI 2, Foxcroft 1
At Mount Desert, Sylvan Herskowitz scored on an assist from Tyler Jones with two minutes remaining in the second overtime as the Trojans escaped with a victory.
Jones scored 3-1 Mount Desert Island’s first goal with 13 minutes left in regulation, tying the game at 1-1. Mike Garrity made eight saves on 12 shots.
Justin Clawson scored an unassisted goal for 2-2 Foxcroft Academy. Mike Grant stopped nine of 15 shots.

At Presque Isle, Bangor’s Greg Johnston made nine saves on 11 shots, leading the Rams to the shutout over Presque Isle.
Elliott Blackstone scored the game-winner just 1:07 into the game on an assist from Jay Jeffrey for 4-0 Bangor. Max Fish added a goal with 20 seconds remaining in the game on a pass from Eben Sypitkowski.
Jeff Yaeger made six saves on 15 shots for 5-2 Presque Isle.

At Caribou, Jamie Lambert scored on a penalty kick with 8:48 remaining in the game to help Brewer earn the tie with Caribou.
Adam Freeman scored a goal and added an assist for 1-1-1 Brewer. Joey Coffin netted a first half goal and David Johnson started in goal.
Tyler Giles, Josh Disy and Shawn Dubay each contributed a goal for the 1-3-1 Vikings. Brad Holabird and Ryan Corrigan had one assist apiece in support of goalkeeper Mike Michaud.

At East Millinocket, Alicia Cram had two goals to lift the Wolverines to the shutout.

Megan Hughes stopped 12 of 29 shots for 2-1 Dexter.
Bangor 0, Presque Isle 0 (2OT)
At Presque Isle, Anne Wright’s sprawling save with two minutes remaining in regulation helped Bangor salvage a tie with Presque Isle.
Wright stopped nine of 21 shots for the Rams, who moved to 5-1-1. Jen Hallett made four saves on 7 shots for the 2-1-1 Wildcats.

At Eastern Maine Technical College in Bangor, Lindsey Dilts scored two goals to lead the Hampden Academy Broncos to the win.
Shena Pineau scored an unassisted goal and Melissa Lacey had an assist for the 3-0 Broncos. Sarah Fraunhofer made four saves on nine shots.
For the 1-2 Crusaders, Kristi Millard scored on Heather Evans’ assist. Kristen Sekera and Katy Sturgeon combined for eight saves on 15 shots.
