Clean list

I was very pleased to read the excellent article covering the Bangor Clean Clothes Fair (BDN, Sept. 7). I was disappointed, however, by two major omissions: the name of the sponsoring organization and a list of area merchants who sell “clean clothes.”

Peace through Interamerican Community Action, the sponsor of the Clean Clothes Fair, named in its publication, the Clean Clothes Consumer, the following retailers in the Bangor area that sell “clean clothes.” in Bangor, the stores are Best Bib & Tucker, Bloomer’s, Cadillac Mountain Sports, Cormier’s Clothing, Grasshopper Shop, Niman’s, Peruvian Alpacas and Ski Rack Sports.

Those in nearby communities include Absolute Soccer (Old Town), Cadillac Mountain Sports (Ellsworth and Bar Harbor), Coyote Moon and Green Store (Belfast), Liberty Graphics (Liberty), Terracotta Sylish Stuff (Ellsworth), The Store/Ampersan (Orono), Winterport Boot (Brewer) and World Market Place (Blue Hill).

As a new resident of Bangor and Maine, my first community commitment will be to join and become an active member of Peace through Interamerican Community Action and to work towrd becoming a responsible consumer by restricting my clothes purchases to stores that sell “clean clothes.” Carol Davis Harriman Bangor
