PETERSBURG, Va. – Thirty-two players earned spots in the 1999 PGA Club Professional Championship on Sunday, including two Maine golfers.

John Hickson of Bethel and Hermon native Mike Baker qualified for the national championship after tying for seventh and 12th, respectively, at the Eastern PGA Club Professional Championship. Hickson finished with a four-day total of 283, four strokes off the lead. Baker posted two rounds in the 60s to finish at 285.

The event was won by Bill Van Orman of Carmel, N.Y., who shot a 279. The 1999 Championship will be played June 24-27 at Whistling Straits in Kohler, Wis.
