At Flushing, N.Y., the 2.5 mens’ tennis team from Bangor finished fifth out of six teams in the 2.5 Adult League Tennis National Championships.
The men’s team from San Juan, Puerto Rico, representing the Caribbean Section, won the United States Tennis Association tournament that was held at the National Tennis Center, site of the U.S. Open.
San Juan, Puerto Rico took first going 5-0, while Fremont, Calif., was second at 4-1, Eugene, Ore., went 3-2 for third and Tallahasse, Fla., finished fourth at 2-3. The Bangor team went 1-4, while the team from New York, N.Y., was 0-5.
Representing Bangor were Bud Campbell, Allan Currie, Joe Gambino, Chris Mulcahy, David Taplin, Terry Toole, Michael Seekins, and Lee Souweine.
