Wiebe propels Bangor

DOVER-FOXCROFT – Molly Wiebe angled a shot into the upper left corner 45 seconds into the second overtime to lift Bangor to a 3-2 schoolgirl soccer victory over Foxcroft Academy Wednesday.

Jamie Wells scored two second-half goals for 8-3-1 Bangor. Melissa Achorn had an assist. Annie Wright made three saves on five shots.

Nellie Campbell tied the game at 2-2 on a direct kick for 2-8-1 Foxcroft Academy. Sarah Bellemare also had a goal. Sherrie Zimmerman made 18 saves on 39 shots.

Brewer 3, Hermon 0

At Brewer, Allison Wing scored a pair of goals and Terry Gough rejected 12 of 17 shots in posting the shutout.

Jessica Richards had the other goal for the 2-7-1 Witches with Katie Ziemer and Allison Gray notching assists.

Heather Small stopped 21 of 26 shots for 1-8-3 Hermon.

Schenck 5, Lee 3

At East Millinocket, Kristen Birt tallied unassisted goals in both halves and the Wolverines scored four second-half goals to remain undefeated.

Casey Wyman, Erin Johnson and Linda Lakeman scored goals for 10-0-1 Schenck, with Nicole Brown and Amy Chasse registering assists. Emily Davis made 14 saves on 16 shots.

Dedra Hamm had a goal and two assists for 3-8-1 Lee. Casey Dickerson and Heather Scott also scored goals, with Laura Currier credited with an assist. Tori Nute made 17 saves on 20 shots.

Orono 3, Nokomis 1

At Orono, Kati Libby netted first and second half goals, helping the Red Riots improve to 9-2-1.

Libby scored off assists from Ashleigh Simpson and Sarah Marquez. Mindy Lane added a goal from Molly Dupere. Meghann Taylor and Marquez combined for three saves on eight shots.

Adrienne Nickerson had 1-7-1 Nokomis’ goal in the second half. Tonya Cray made 14 saves on 19 shots.

Penobscot Valley 5, Central 0

At Howland, Alicia Drost registered a hat trick and an assist, as the Howlers rolled past the winless Red Devils.

Drost had a goal in the first and two in the second for 9-2-1 Howland. Audrey Porter and Miranda Nicholson also had scores, with Heather Freund, Meagan Cyr, Mitchelle Doyon and Nicholson racking up assists. Carrie Braley made five saves on five shots.

Jen Allen had 40 saves on 45 shots for 0-9 Central.

Old Town 3, John Bapst 2

At Old Town, Kristen Tracewski scored on a cross from Jennie Reinzo with six minutes remaining in the game to break a 2-2 tie in favor of the Indians.

Tracewski also assisted on Jessica Maurais’ goal and Maureen Pease tallied unassisted. Justine Ferland made five saves on 13 shots in net for 7-4-1 Old Town.

Stacy Rudnicki and Julie Crotty scored for the 4-8 Crusaders and goalkeeper Alex Waring made five saves on 14 shots.

Hampden 3, Ellsworth 2 (2OT)

At Ellsworth, Lisa Groesenek chipped a shot over goalie Bekah Metzler’s head with 3:56 left in double overtime for her second goal, giving the Eagles their first loss of the season.

Groesenek’s first score was unassisted, tying the game in the second half. Lindsey Dilts also scored for 9-2-1 Hampden. Sarah Fraunhofer made seven saves on 11 shots.

Kathy Dill had both of 9-1-2 Ellsworth’s goals in the first half. Becky Lock had an assist. Metzler made nine saves on 18 shots.

Bucksport 3, GSA 3 (2OT)

At Blue Hill, goals 1:42 apart in the final 9:49 of regulation by Sara Haney and Sorcha Cribben-Merrill gave George Stevens a come-from-behind tie.

GSA is now 4-6-2 while Bucksport went to 3-6-3.

Haney scored from the penalty spot and Cribben-Merrill netted a four-yarder off a Jenny Manyak pass.

Caddie Jackson scored the other GSA goal off a Haney pass and goalie Dawn Robertson made nine saves on 17 shots.

Jessica Sawyer had two goals for Bucksport and Jessica Gordon had the other. Goalie Jana Richards had 14 stops on 22 shots.

Field hockey

Mattanawcook 2, Central 1

At East Corinth, Candace Sabol and Chris Gendreau scored within ten minutes of each other in the first half for the Lynx of Lincoln.

Danielle Kyes and Jenn Comeau tallied assists for 6-4-2 Mattanawcook. Tracie Pickering made eight saves on 14 shots.

Deb Young scored an unassisted goal in the first for 4-3-5 Central. Jen Greatorex had seven saves on 11 shots.

Nokomis 10, Bangor 0

At Newport, Liz Mendell and Miranda Johndro each had three goals apiece to lead the Warriors past the winless Rams.

Mendell had her hat trick in the first half for 6-4-1 Nokomis. Nicole Palmer, Jesse Randlett, Holly Tompkins and Danielle Reed scored individual goals. Veronica Gilbert and Amanda Swain combined for five saves on 13 shots.

Natalie Beiser had eight saves on 37 shots for 0-12 Bangor.

JV: Nokomis 2, Bangor 1

Hampden 1, Old Town 0

At Hampden, Christina Congleton broke up the scoreless game with 10 minutes left when she scored off a pass from Sharon Ireland to lift the 7-3 Broncos.

Ashlea Larson stopped all eight shots she faced for Hampden Academy.

Goalie Kristin Osborne made five saves on 12 shots for the 4-7-2 Indians.

Orono 2, Brewer 0

At Brewer, Marilyn Nichols netted both goals in the Orono’s shutout win.

Both of Nichols’ scores were unassisted. Jen Brooks made two saves on six shots for 4-5-3 Orono.

Jessica Rowles had 10 saves on 12 shots for 1-11 Brewer.
