The race for the staff title in the NEWS Football Forecast remains tight after five of the 10 weeks have been completed.

Pete Warner posted the week’s best record at 16-4 and moved into a tie for first with Andrew Neff, who was 15-5 along with every other staffer except one.

Guest Doug Curtis Jr. of Rockland also turned in a 15-5 mark, two victories off the standard set this season by Don Perryman of Belfast and Peter Cooper of Fairfield.

This week’s guest is Doug Whitney, a 1981 graduate of Bangor High School.

He was a member of the Rams’ 1979 state championship team and an All-State cornerback in 1980. He also played basketball for Bangor.

Whitney, who works in the Airways Facilities Office of the Federal Aviation Administration in Bangor, lives in Bangor with his wife Lisa (Holt) and their children Hannah, 11, Joel, 9, and Michaela, 6.
