Cota, York lead MCI past Dexter

PITTSFIELD – Nate Cota and Matt York each ran for two touchdowns and combined for more than 200 yards on the ground Friday night as Maine Central Institute posted a 35-13 LTC Class C football victory over Dexter.

York had a 63-yard burst in the second quarter for the Huskies. Alan Mason also had a rushing score.

Calvin Teixeira caught a 58-yard bomb from Brock Kimball for Dexter. Kimball later scrambled on a 1-yard run.

At Oakland, Tony Harmon scored on runs of 8, 12 and 48 yards to lead Messalonskee.

Harmon gained 167 yards on eight rushes. Justin Porter carried four times for 106 yards and Ryan Blethen added 75 yards on six carries for the Eagles.

Jake Massey returned an interception 45 yards for a touchdown that put Messalonskee up 22-0 in the first quarter. Phil Levesque paced the defense with three sacks.

Heath Gifford scored on a 55-yard rush in the third quarter for Maranacook of Readfield. Josh Twitchell added a 25-yard TD scamper in the fourth.

At Fairfield, Don Thibodeau scored two touchdowns to lead the Bulldogs to their second win.

Thibodeau’s score came on an 85-yard punt return. In the third quarter, he rambled for a 48-yard touchdown. Mike Nadeau and Chris Knights also added TDs and Nadeau caught a Travis Hotham pass for the PAT on Thibodeau’s second score.

At Belfast, Tim Parenteau rushed for 152 yards and three touchdowns, while Matt Darres had 94 yards receiving and three touchdowns for the Lions.

Parenteau had a 55-yard rumble in the fourth quarter for Belfast. Darres returned an interception 45 yards for a score in the third. Rob Skillings also had a rushing score as Ben Morley completed 3-of-3 for 68 yards.

Keenan Goslin had two one-yard rushing scores for Old Town. Justin Lizzotte rushed 16 times for 68 yards.

At Lincoln, Miah Coffin led the Lynx of Lincoln with 111 yards on 14 carries, including a 50-yard jaunt in the third quarter.

B.J. Birtz completed seven of 10 passes for 140 yards and two touchdowns for the winners. Linebacker Alan Whitney recorded 15 tackles and tackle Bill Kelley had 14.

Don Williams and Matt Wall each scored a touchdown for Rockland.

At Hampden, Vince Bennett and Ben Preston combined to amass 310 yards on the ground as the Broncos cruised.

Bennett rushed 14 times for 177 yards with two touchdowns and Ben Preston added 133 yards and three touchdowns on 12 carries for the Broncos.

Hampden quarterback Adam Waite completed seven of 12 passes for 174 yards and two touchdowns while being intercepted once.

Joe Wardman paced the Mount Desert Island offense with 19 rushes for 144 yards and a touchdown.
