AUGUSTA — The Maine Arts Commission has funds available for statewide, regional and local training for teachers, artists and administrators to increase knowledge and use of the arts in education.

Professional Development in Arts Education has funded several projects since its creation in July, including programs developed by the Maine Alliance for Arts Education, SAD 55 and the Watershed Center for the Ceramic Arts.

Funds may be used for in-service workshops, regional training or the development of statewide conferences on the arts. The use of professional artists and arts educators as workshop leaders is encouraged.

Program guidelines are available by calling the Maine Arts Commission at 287-2790. After reviewing the guidelines, please contact Nancy Salmon at nancy.salmon@state.me.us to discuss ideas.
