Bucksport rips Dexter

DEXTER – The Bucksport Golden Bucks amassed 173 yards rushing and 141 yards passing to beat the Dexter Tigers 34-7 in high school football action Saturday.

Jeff Rankin had five catches for 96 yards and two touchdowns to lead the Golden Bucks rushing.

Dexter was led defensively by Joe Turner who had 14 tackles and one sack, and Justin Cardelli, who had 13 tackles.

At Readfield, the Broncos rolled up 700 yards of total offense, including three 100-yard rushing performances, as they defeated Maranacook.

Vince Bennett rushed for 205 yards and two touchdowns on six carries. In the game, Bennett went over the 1,000 yard mark in a season for the first time in his career. Ben Preston added 131 yards and three TDs on five carries. Jordan Marden picked up three touchdowns and 101 yards on nine rushes.

At Waterville, running back Chris DeGuzman broke the game open early, scoring on runs of 22 and 26 yards in the first quarter, lifting the Purple Panthers.

DeGuzman rushed for 101 yards on the night for Waterville. Running back Chad Hart also broke the 100-yard barrier with 114 yards and two touchdowns.

For Brewer, Shane Coombs scored on a 65-yard run in the third quarter.

At Winslow, the Black Raiders rallied for two touchdowns and an extra point in the final 4:35 to knock off Messalonskee.

Patrick Bard led the fourth quarter charge for Winslow with a pair of touchdown tosses to Eric McCaslin. Bard passed for 110 yards on the day to go over 1,000 for the season in eight games.

Tony Harmon piled up 204 yards for Messalonskee, including touchdown runs of 25 and seven yards.
