The devastation caused by Hurricane Mitch in Honduras has been horrendous. At this time, it has caused 7,000 deaths and 11,000 people are unaccounted for. The main crops — coffee, bananas and others — have been lost.

It has seriously affected more than half a million people and more than 70 percent of the country is a shambles.

I urge you, if you can, individuals, churches and organizations, to help out this country in its tragedy. One way you can do this, is to send a check or money order to Consulado de Honduras, Emergency Relief Fund account no. 192-03451-9, Washington Mutual Bank, 290 Alhambra Circle, Coral Gables, Fla. 33134. The phone number is 1-800-410-9608. Gregorio J. Fuentes Orono
