FREEPORT – An all-day series of free educational programs and demonstrations on winter sports is scheduled at L.L. Bean’s on Saturday from 10 a.m. to around 8 p.m.
Guest speakers are Polly Mahoney and Kevin Slater of Mahoosuc Guide Service, Newry, who will talk at 10 a.m. on travels by dog sled in the Yukon, Baffin Island, and Hudson Bay; Nick Yardley, who will present “A Beginner’s Guide to Climbing Mt. Washington” at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.; Judy Walker of Maine Audubon who will present “A Guide to Coastal Bird Watching in Winter” at noon; Bob Myron, who will talk at 3 p.m. about the skills required to become a Maine Guide; Bill Silliker Jr., who will present at 4 p.m. “Photographing Winter Wildlife: Eagles to Moose, Harp Seals to Snow Scenes;” L.L. Bean Outdoor Discovery School instructor Karen Knight, who will present at 5 p.m. “Staying Warm When You Head Outdoors;” Bill Yeo, world adventurer, who will talk at 6 p.m. on “The Big Mountains of the World: An Adventure Travel Journal;” and L.L. Bean Outdoor Discovery School instructor Judy Gilpatrick, who will talk at 7 p.m on “Women in the Winter Wilderness.”
In addition to the lectures there will be special displays throughout the store and special programs for kids at the L.L. Kids Store.
