ROCKLAND — The Farnsworth Art Museum’s eight galleries are being reorganized this month to prepare for several new exhibitions. The reinstallations will be complete and all galleries reopened Dec. 8.
The Crosman Gallery closed Nov. 9 and will reopen Nov. 24 with “Fairfield Porter from the Collection of The Parrish Art Museum.”
Beginning Nov. 27, the Wyeth Study Center Gallery will exhibit works of Andrew Wyeth on an ongoing basis. These shows will change every four to six weeks to offer a varied perspective on Wyeth’s work. Works of Jamie Wyeth will appear in the Cowan Gallery in the Wyeth Center.
The Rothschild and Hadlock Galleries closed Nov. 9 and will reopen Nov. 21 and Nov. 30, respectively, with the Farnsworth’s permanent collection, “Maine in America.”
During the week of Nov. 17-20, the Farnsworth will offer a 50 percent admission reduction. Admission will be $4 for adults, $3 for seniors, $2 for students 18 and older; ages 17 and younger, free admission. Two galleries, the Craig and the Nevelson-Berliawsky, will remain open while other galleries close for installations.
In the Craig, “Landscape Photography of Melville McLean” will be featured. The Nevelson-Berliawsky Gallery will feature sculpture and paintings by Louise Nevelson, as well as contemporary paintings and sculpture from the Farnsworth’s permanent collection.
The Rothschild, Nevelson-Berliawsky, Craig and Crosman Galleries will be open Nov. 21. Closed for installation of selected paintings from the Wyeth Collection will be the Wyeth Study Center Gallery (reopening Nov. 27) and the Wyeth Center Galleries (reopening Dec. 8).
The Wyeth Study Center Gallery and the Hadlock, Rothschild, Nevelson, Craig and Crosman Galleries will be open the week of Nov. 30-Dec. 6. The Cowan Gallery in the Wyeth Center will be closed for installation. The reorganization will be complete and all galleries open Tuesday, Dec. 8.
