DENVER – The NHL’s Colorado Avalanche called up former University of Maine tri-captain Brian White from Hershey of the AHL on Friday to bolster its depleted defensive corps.

White, a stay-at-home defenseman, scored 34 points in 135 career games for UMaine. He signed a two-year deal with the Avalanche in July.

White had a goal and two assists in 16 games for Hershey.
