ORONO – Raffi Wolf scored three goals and assisted on two others Sunday to lead the University of Maine to a 10-0 shutout of the University of New Brunswick in women’s hockey action.
The Black Bears had battered the Seawolves 10-1 on Saturday.
Wolf netted two goals in the second period and added one more with 11:11 left in the third for the Black Bears. Allison Lorenz added a goal and a pair of assists. Sarah Caza registered two goals. Kira Misikowetz dished out three assists. Kim Hinton, Jessica Stachiw, Colleen Baude and Andrea Keller had one goal each. Christina Hedges, Angela Hill, Lee Anne Irwin, Robyn Elliott, Esther Granville, Kelly Nelson and Allison Haley each had one assist.
Amanda Cronin and Amy Coletta combined to stop all eight shots they faced for Maine. For UNB, Bonnie Stagg and Rachel Moore combined for 44 saves on 54 shots.
In Saturday’s game, Wolf tallied four goals and assisted on another as Maine made a successful home debut. She scored two goals in the first period and one each in the second and third.
Alison Lorenz of Brewer scored two third-period goals for the Bears, who got goals from Kelly Nelson, Kira Misikowetz, Sara Caza and Christina Hedges. Kathleen Hedges registered six saves in 43-plus minutes.
Tina Cormier scored for UNB, which received a 38-save performance from Monica Datenbeck.
