MAINE vs. BROWN

Time, site: 7:30 p.m., Saturday, Pizzitola Sports Complex (2,800), Providence, R.I.

Records: Maine 3-1, Brown 0-5

Series: Brown leads 4-1

Key players: Maine – 6-1 G Andy Bedard (26.3 ppg, 2.8 rpg, 4.5 apg), 6-8 F Nate Fox (11.0 ppg, 7.0 rpg), 6-6 F Allen Ledbetter (10.0 ppg, 8.5 rpg), 6-2 G Fred Meeks (10.7 ppg, 3.3 rpg), 6-1 G (9.3 ppg, 1.0 rpg), 6-2 G Huggy Dye (10.3 ppg, 4.0 rpg); Brown – 6-8 F Kamal Rountree (18.6 ppg, 6.0 rpg), 6-7 F Shaun Etheridge (10.0 ppg, 6.6 rpg), 6-0 G Corey Vandiver (8.0 ppg, 3.2 rpg), 6-4 F Travis Brown (7.2 ppg, 3.6 rpg), 6-6 F Josh Meyer (7.0 ppg, 3.0 rpg)

Outlook: The Black Bears have a great chance to begin the season 4-1 for the first time since 1992-93 with a win in a battle of the Bears. Brown has already lost to two America East squads – New Hampshire and Northeastern, and dropped another pair to Delaware State and Central Connecticut. Brown should have plenty of trouble against Maine’s versatile offensive attack. The Black Bears must guard against looking past Brown and toward the marquee matchup at Providence College on Monday night.
