As a representative of the Maine Recreation Association of the Deaf, I am writing in response to Timothy Damien’s letter of Oct. 19 regarding the admission fee.
Since this was our first bi-annual Timberfest, it would have been much more helpful if Damien had come to us with his concerns and complaints rather than condemning our organization in the BDN.
I’d like to clarify some of these concerns to avoid any further misunderstandings. Anyone could have pre-registered to avoid additional charges. If Damien had contacted one of the committee members to clarify the registration fee, we could have answered his questions; because there were not enough pre-registrations, the fee had to be changed to cover the costs of the camping facility.
All the people who were not pre-registered were informed about this change upon arrival. The whole purpose was to bring the deaf community together for a weekend of recreation, not to cause hard feelings. Lois G. Morin Sebago
