NEW YORK — The Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture is accepting applications for its fellowship program. Full and partial fellowship support toward tuition is available through the Bingham and William & Marguerite Zorach Fellowships for artists born, raised or living in Maine.
Tuition for the 1999 Skowhegan residency program is $5,200, which covers program costs, room and board for the nine-week session (June 12-Aug. 14).
The Skowhegan program is offered for 65 advanced visual artists, and provides participants with time for concentrated, independent work with the critical assistance of a faculty of resident and visiting artists, some of whom are among the world’s most prominent.
There are no formal classes, but the nonacademic program consists of individual and group critiques, faculty lectures and constant interaction and dialogue among participants and faculty.
Application deadline for the fellowship is Feb. 1, 1999. For more information or for an application, write to the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture, 200 Park Avenue South, Suite 1116, New York, NY 10003, or call (212) 529-0505 or fax (212) 473-1342.
