White, Warriors topple Indians

OLD TOWN – Jeff White scored 19 points Wednesday night to help Nokomis of Newport pull out a 75-72 overtime victory over Old Town in Big East boys basketball action.

Shawn Henderson and Eric Driscoll both chipped in with 15 points.

Old Town’s Dan Emerson was tops with 28 points and 13 rebounds, and Peter Fournier had 16 points.

At Hampden on Tuesday, Melissa Overlock drained a 3-pointer with 37 seconds left in overtime to give Hermon the win.

Jamie Wells netted 15 points for Hampden. Jessica O’Donnell scored 12 points, and Abby Carney added 10 points and 13 rebounds.

At Alfond Arena in Orono, Ryan Bernard scored the unassisted game-winning goal in overtime for the previously winless Old Town Indians in a thrilling 5-4 high school hockey victory over Maranacook.

Tim Gomm had two goals while Matt Dupuis added a goal for 1-5 Old Town. Josh Sibley pitched in a goal and an assist. Jason Karam made 20 saves on 24 shots.

Ian Harger scored three goals for the 3-2 Black Bears of Readfield, while David Faualhaben added a goal and an assist. Matt Zeh made 26 saves on 31 shots.
