Bangor has a library to be proud of. As its renovation approaches a first anniversary, to be celebrated with a slice of cake on Jan. 28, patrons will probably circle the parking lot outside looking for a space. They will then need to go to the window and take a ticket, to a lot which will also be full.
If they find a space it will be at the far end. Hopefully, there will be no driving wind or snow to battle their way through to Harlow Street, where they will take their life in their hands as they attempt to use the crosswalk.
When I first saw the construction going on at the lot and the removal of parking meters I thought, “Finally, friendly parking for library patrons.” Not! I guess Bangor has decided increased parking fees will be a good money maker. I thought downtown was supposed to be friendlier. Laurie Walton Glenburn
