TURNER — A 27-year-old Wilton woman was killed Tuesday afternoon when she lost control of her Ford Aspire and drove into the path of a logging truck on Route 4, police said.

Melissa Dewitt was driving south near the Harlow Hill Road intersection when her vehicle crossed into the northbound lane at about 12:30 p.m., Capt. Raymond Lafrance of the Androscoggin County Sheriff’s Department said. The truck struck the car’s passenger side and sent the vehicle flying off the road.

Dewitt was thrown from the car and died at the scene. Route 4 was closed from Route 117 to Route 219 until 4 p.m. and traffic was rerouted, Lafrance said.

No one else was injured. Lafrance said the truck was driven by Robert Scott, 38, of Dixfield.
