I just listened to the vote to move the debate to dismiss the impeachment charges behind closed doors. It doesn’t matter what one thinks about the charges, but to discuss them behind closed doors is wrong. The American people own those chambers. Those Senators are responsible to us, the voters. Sen. Olympia Snowe has voted against open debate of one of the most important issues likely to happen in many of our lives, short of war.
She voted to snub the people who voted to send her there to represent us. How does she represent us by keeping these deliberations secret. What could they be saying that we have not already heard?
As for Sen. Susan Collins, I couldn’t be more proud of her. She stood up for us. She stood up to keep this debate in front of the American people. Dennis Barbour Pittsfield
