BANGOR – James Bradford fired in 10 of his 12 points in the second half to lift the Bangor Rams to a 56-44 schoolboy basketball victory over the Mt. Blue Cougars Friday night at Red Barry Gym.

Bangor collected its 14th victory while avenging a loss it suffered to the Cougars earlier this season in Farmington.

Corey Gildart sparked the Rams with 15 points and solid floor play.

“We played excellent team defense and we worked really hard,” Bangor coach Roger Reed said.

“James Bradford had a strong second half and Corey Gildart ran the point well,” Reed added.

Joey Campbell added 14 points in the winning effort.

Tom Scott paced Mt. Blue to 12 points. Greg Sawyer and Dorian Meklonian each added 11 points.

At Old Town, Jason Thibodeau scored eight points and Dan Emerson added six points in the fourth quarter as Old Town broke a 44-44 tie and went on a 22-7 run to end the game.

Emerson finished with 28 points and seven assist to pace the Indians. Thibodeau scored 18 points.

Wes Crockett scored 12 points for Medomak Valley of Waldoboro and Joe Kay added 10.

Megan Woodcock added 10 points to the winning effort.

Alison Smith scored 12 points for Bangor which lost for only the second time this season. Kara Crockett chipped in with nine points.

At Waldoboro, Justine Ferland scored 32 points and ripped down 12 rebounds to lift Old Town.

Kristy Thurston tossed in 15 points for the Indians and Chandra St. Peter added 13. Kasey Spencer had eight points, five steals and five assists.

Mary Hobklowicz led Medomak Valley of Waldoboro with 14 points and Lauri Johnson added 13. Denise Newbert scored 10 points.

At Presque Isle, Lee Miller scored the game-winner on his second goal of the game off assists from Scott Tardif and Tim Morin.

Matt Caldwell, Scott Tardif and Matt Astbury also scored goals for 11-8-1 Hampden.

Brian Cataldo made 15 saves on 19 shots including a breakaway save at the buzzer in the third.

For 6-11-1 Presque Isle, Jamie Brewer scored all four goals. Joey Grenier and Ted Wright combined to turn away 29 of 34 shots.
