Jane T. Austin, a teacher at Stockton Springs Elementary School, is one of 24 winners in a national Internet contest sponsored by TeachersFirst, a Web site that offers lesson plans and other educational information. Austin won for her lesson plan titled “Reading in a Resource Room Setting.” The contest was a part of the launch for the Web site. Austin’s plan will be made available on the Web site. Kathleen Leyden has been named director of the Maine Coastal Program at the Maine State Planning Office. She has worked for the planning office for seven years, including the past two years as a policy development specialist. Leyden earned her master’s degree in regional planning from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and has worked for seven years as a regional planner and planning director for the cities of Portland and Saco.
