BRIAN POIRE

ORONO – Brian Poire of the University of Maine has been selected as the America East Baseball Player of the Week for his efforts in the Black Bears’ 3-1 weekend at Hofstra. The senior third baseman from Rochester, N.H., batted .692 (9-for-13) with eight runs scored.

BECKY ROAK

FARMINGTON – University of Maine-Farmington third baseman Becky Roak, of Portland, has been named Maine Athletic Conference softball player of the week. Roak had five hits in eight at-bats for the Beavers, driving in eight runs and scoring three in a 2-0 week.

SHANNON HENTHORN

PRESQUE ISLE – Shannon Henthorn of the University of Maine-Presque Isle was named Maine Athletic Conference softball pitcher of the week on Monday. Henthorn, originally from Washburn, registered one win and a save for the Owls while posting a 0.90 ERA in three appearances.

MIKE FULLERTON

FARMINGTON – Mike Fullerton of the University of Maine-Farmington hit .750 last week to be named Maine Athletic Conference baseball player of the week. Fullerton, from Portland, had three home runs and seven RBIs among his six hits.

JAMIE WHITEHOUSE

STANDISH – Jamie Whitehouse of St. Joseph’s College has been named MAC pitcher of the week. Whitehouse, a native of Standish, allowed four hits and one run in a win over Husson.

BROOKE FITZSIMMONS

WATERVILLE – Brooke Fitzsimmons of Colby College captured softball pitcher of the week honors from the NESCAC and the Maine Intercollegiate Softball Coaches Association this week. Fitzsimmons allowed just one run in two games last week to run her season record to 4-1.

KATE DALTON

WATERVILLE – Colby College freshman right fielder Kate Dalton has been selected as the Maine Intercollegiate Softball Coaches Association player of the week. Dalton went 5-for-6 in a double header with eight RBIs, five runs, two doubles and two home runs for the Mules.

KATE MAGNUSSON

WATERVILLE – Kate Magnusson, a shortstop at Colby College, has been named MISCA softball rookie of the week. Magnusson hit .500 last week in a two game sweep of Brandeis, scoring three runs and driving in three.
