PORTLAND – Maine’s largest foot race will return on Saturday, Aug. 7, and runners wanting to take part can enter now to avoid being left out of the field.

Applications for the 2nd annual Peoples Beach to Beacon 10K road race became available on April 15. The 1998 race drew 3,000 runners to Cape Elizabeth, while this year’s edition will cap entries at 4,000.

“A rapid response is critical for those interested in running this year,” said race director Dave McGillivray. “Although the field size has increased, based on the interest we have already received from athletes around the world, we expect it to fill up very quickly.”

The race is a fast 6.2-miler that follows a scenic course from Crescent Beach State Park to Portland Head Light.

Race entry forms can be obtained by calling 1-888-480-6940. The entry fee is $18 per person, which includes a T-shirt.
