Ganiel named Academic All-American

PROVIDENCE – Gladys Ganiel of Harrington has earned 1998-99 First Team GTE Academic All-America Fall/Winter At-Large honors. This is the third time the Providence College senior has earned GTE Academic All-America honors and the second time she has been named to the first team.

In November 1998, Ganiel and her Friar teammates captured the women’s title at the New England Cross Country Championship and finish first at the NCAA Northeast Cross Country Championship. She was the Friars’ third finisher at the NCAA Cross Country Championships, where Providence finished 10th.

Ganiel, a political science major, has a cumulative grade point average of 3.99.
