The Husson College Braves of Bangor took three of four games against the University of Maine-Farmington Beavers over the weekend.

At Farmington on Saturday, Husson scored 31 runs in two games in sweeping UMF. The Braves hammered the Beavers in the first game 18-1 and held off a rally for a 13-12 win in game two.

At Mansfield Stadium in Bangor on Sunday, the Braves and the Beavers split. UMF won the first game 12-8 and Husson took the second game 16-2.

In the first game, Jason Cushman knocked in four runs with a double and a single. Nick Ayotte, Mike Fullerton and Mike Wilcox each hit a double and Scott Philbrick singled three times for the Beavers. Husson’s Jason Cyr and Joey Montgomery smacked triples and Donnie Sawyer added a double. Mike King hit three singles.

In the second game, Cyr drove home four runs on a double and two singles. Sawyer hit three singles for three RBIs and Aaron Largay doubled and singled twice to drive in three runs.

Ayotte, Cox and Philbrick each doubled for UMF.

In Saturday’s second game, Husson scored five runs in the top of the sixth inning, providing enough insurance against Farmington’s six-run rally.

Sawyer doubled three times to lead the Braves. Montgomery and Barrett Williams each homered and singled. Chris Pickering added a double and single.

Fullerton blasted his eighth home run of the year, doubled and singled for the Beavers. Ayotte and Jeff Bird had a double and single apiece.

In the first game, James Zukowski allowed just one hit in five innings to pace Husson.

Sawyer ripped four singles for the Braves. Dan Curtis belted a grand slam and added a pair of singles. Pickering had a two-run homer and a single.

Bird smacked a solo home run for Farmington.

Colby, Suffolk split

At Waterville, Colby College and Suffolk University of Boston split a doubleheader on Saturday. The Rams took the first game with a 14-6 win and Colby posted a 9-7 victory in the second.

In the first game, Suffolk blasted five home runs to post the win.

Paul Knisell hit two home runs for the Rams and added a single.

Jon Lord singled and doubled for the Mules.

In game two, Lord smashed his fourth homer of the season, a two-run shot, to lift Colby.

Kris Keelty allowed eight hits and struck out nine for the Mules.

Jeff Russell homered and doubled to pace Suffolk.

St. Joe’s sweeps UMPI

At Presque Isle, St. Joseph’s College swept the University of Maine-Presque Isle in doubleheaders on Saturday and Sunday. The Monks took an 8-2 win in Saturday’s first game before pounding the Owls 21-1 in the second. On Sunday, St. Joe’s posted 16-4 and 13-1 wins over UMPI.

In Sunday’s first game, Michael Greve tripled twice and score three runs to lift the Monks.

Dave Quintal ripped a pair of singles and Jamie Whitehouse pitched a six-hitter for St. Joseph’s.

Matt McDonald doubled in a run for the Owls.

In the second contest, Tim Remington tossed a six-hitter, striking out 10, to lead the Monks.

Todd Spencer doubled and singled while Quintal and Greve had two singles each for St. Joe’s. Greve knocked in two runs.

Josh Morse legged out an inside-the-park home run to lead off the bottom of the first inning for UMPI.

In Saturday’s first game, Todd Spencer hit a single, double and triple, driving in four runs to lead the Monks.

Steve Osborne ripped three singles and scored two runs for St. Joe’s. Chris Holt tossed a seven-hitter and struck out six.

Noel Santiago doubled and tripled for the Owls.

In the second game, Quintal ripped two doubles, a triple and single to drive in four runs and score five as the Monks rolled.

Osborne doubled twice and singled, scoring three runs in the win. Grieve went 3-for-5, including a double, with three RBIs. Todd Spencer drove in four runs with a pair of singles.

Josh Brown singled and scored to pace UMPI.

Tufts takes two from Colby

At Waterville Sunday, five different hitters smacked home runs as the Jumbos swept the White Mules 11-5 in the first game and 11-3 in the second.

In the first game, Tufts’ John Flack hit a two-run home run in the fifth and Joe Suprenant followed with a three-run shot later in the inning. Pat Fernan hit a solo homer. Colby’s Louis DiStasi smacked a two-run homer in the fifth and Ben Stickney doubled.

In the second game, Fernan hit his second home run of the day in the first inning. Greg Domareki doubled and singled for the White Mules. Yuma Morita and Matthew Smith each hit two singles.
