The University of Maine will commemorate the 35th anniversary of the Black Bears’ first trip to the College World Series Saturday during its America East baseball doubleheader against Delaware at Mahaney Diamond in Orono.
Joe Ferris of Brewer, the pitcher who led Jack Butterfield’s UMaine squad to a 21-8 record in 1964 en route to the College World Series Most Valuable Player award, will throw out the first pitch prior to Saturday’s 5 p.m. first game.
Free tickets for Saturday’s games may be picked up at any branch of Peoples Heritage Bank in the Bangor area.
