ORONO – The third time was the charm Wednesday for Orono’s Pat Skall.

He singled in the winning run in the bottom of the 10th inning of the Red Riots’ 6-5 high school baseball victory over Foxcroft Academy.

After Stuart Cady hit a one-out triple and Chris Crockett was intentionally walked, Skall’s hard grounder toward the second-base hole scored Cady. It was the third time Foxcroft intentionally walked batters to get to Skall.

In the sixth, two batters were intentionally walked to load the bases after a one-out double before Skall grounded into a double play. In the eighth, David Means hit a two-out triple, two more batters were intentionally walked, and Skall grounded out.

For Orono, Means hit a two-run home run in the second, tripled, and singled. Cady, who pitched all 10 innings and threw 144 pitches, went 3-for-4 with two triples and a single and Skip Smith had a triple and double. Daryl Watson, Randy Kluj and Morgan Stinson each had a double and a single.

Kyle Wentworth led the Ponies with a double and two singles.

Valley 16, Bangor Christian 1

At Bangor, Joel Frigon two-hit Bangor Christian while striking out five to pick up the win.

Frigon also doubled and singled twice for four RBIs. Ryan Atwood and Jeremy Jones each singled twice and knocked in three runs. Chris Miller singled twice and had two RBIs.

Matt Conley singled and drove in one run for Bangor Christian. Mark Reitsman singled.

At Dexter, Mike Cowperthwaite struck out eight and scattered eight hits to earn the victory.

Greg Ingalls knocked in the game-winner with a two-run double in the seventh inning. Ingalls also singled. Ben Huber hit a two-run single.

Mike Mountain tripled and singled twice for Dexter. Brock Kimball struck out 10 in the loss. Kimball singled twice and knocked in a run.

Piscataquis 16, Penobscot Valley 5

At Howland, Tom Shea singled four times and drove in three runs to lead Piscataquis of Guilford.

Buddy Leavitt added three singles and two RBIs for the winners. Scott DeCastro hit an RBI triple.

Heath Lemay doubled three times and had three RBIs for Penobscot Valley. Brad Thibodeau tripled and singled. Matt Dobson singled twice.

At Blue Hill, John Lewandowski’s three-run homer with one out in the bottom of the seventh inning tied it and an infield throwing error, the third error of the inning, allowed the winning run to score as GSA rallied to knock Bucksport from the ranks of the undefeated.

Junior righty Toby Cole, who reached on a two-out error and scored the winning run, notched the complete-game win as he spaced eight hits, struck out six, and walked two.

Lewandowski had a single also, and Peter Collier had a two-run double for the Eagles.

Craig Harvey had a two-run homer, a solo homer, and a single for Bucksport. Peter Saunders added a two-run homer and Cameron Giroux walloped a solo shot.

At Bangor, Ryan Logan drove in the only runs the Crusaders would need with a two-run single in the third inning.

Ryan Lynch’s double in the fifth inning also drove in a run for John Bapst while Kyle Leighton had a pair of singles. Greg Hawes struck out five while pitching the shutout.

Jeff Roix and Derek Strout singled twice each for the Trojans.

At Searsport, Adam Salvia belted a game-tying grand slam in the top of the seventh and Jason Allen’s two-out single drove in Andy Matulis with the winning run as Central rallied past Searsport.

Matulis hurled five innings of hitless shutout relief to pick up the win. Matulis had a double and two singles for the winners, and Andy Koncinsky had three base hits.

Aaron Tripp rapped a two-run homer and Travis Curtis had an RBI single for the Vikings.

At Hampden, Adam Waite hit a three-run homer and singled three times to lead the Broncos.

Tom Davis added a two-run homer and two singles in the winning effort. Pat Lacey hit a three-run homer and Nate Drummon hit a solo homer and doubled.

Andy Thomas and Bruce Morneault each doubled and singled for Brewer. Justin Spencer hit a two-run single.

At Ellsworth, Darrin Daniels hurled a three-hitter, striking out seven through five innings, and delivered four runs with a two-run homer and a two-run single as Stearns triumphed.

Matt Montgomery had a two-run double and two singles for the Minutmen and Jaime Cote had a pair of base hits and two RBIs.

John Reed, Courtney Bunker and Derrick Awalt singled for Ellsworth.

At Lee, Erik Worster held Schenck to three hits while striking out eight to pick up the victory.

Chris Carr led the Lee offense with a double, single, and three RBIs. Matt Corbin singled twice and doubled. Alex Nicholas and Travis Jacobs each singled twice.

Brad Hebert hit an RBI double for Schenck.

At Camden, the Windjammers received five innings of three-hit baseball from lefty Jon Moro and homers from Mike MacDonald, Joah Peck, and Jay Seymour to advance to the Kennebec Valley Conference’s Class B final.

Moro struck out eight and walked five and contributed a double and two singles to the 13-hit attack. He had an RBI.

Peck had a single to go with his homer and knocked in four runs, MacDonald had a double along with his homer and had three RBIs, Seymour singled and homered and had two RBIs, and Travis Wadsworth singled twice and had an RBI.

Bill Osborne had an RBI single for Erskine.

At Orono, the Foxcroft Academy Ponies scored two runs in the third and made them stand up as Cristy Scott pitched a seven-hit shutout.

In the third inning, Becky Warren hit a sacrifice fly to score the first run and Kristy Smith scored from third one out later on a throwing error.

Mandi Murray hit two singles for the Ponies.

Molly Dupere led the Red Riots with a double and two singles. Jessica Libby singled twice.

At Dexter, Jill Osier singled twice and tripled en route to three RBIs for Sumner of East Sullivan.

At Howland, Tammy McGinn and Jodi Curtis each had two-run singles to help Penobscot Valley overcome an 11-6 deficit.

Kalli Pulkkinen had four singles and four RBIs for Piscataquis of Guilford and Garnet Korsman doubled and singled and drove in two runs.

At Bangor, two-run doubles by Rachel Sage and Renee Mick keyed a four-run rally in the bottom of the seventh that enabled Bangor Christian to erase a 4-1 deficit.

Sage and Mick each had singled to go with their doubles and Lari Sobey doubled. Mick hurled a three-hitter to register the win, striking out three and walking six.

Gena Roderick doubled for Valley with Erin Melcher and Breanna Belanger contributing singles.

At Hampden, Bree Drummond and Sarah Lozito drove in a pair of runs each with singles as the Broncos scored four times in the fourth inning and then held off the Witches.

Sarah Aylward also drove in a run for Hampden Academy with a triple, and Jamie Wells limited Brewer to three hits.

Tami Corey had a pair singles and an RBI and Cara McEwen tripled for Brewer.

At Blue Hill, Jeanna Leclerc drove in the game-winner on a two-run single for George Stevens in the bottom of the seventh.

Sara Haney and Denise Erland each singled twice and drove in one run for the Eagles. Brooke Keniston held Bucksport to four hits and struck out eight. Lindsey Hermon hit an RBI single and Keniston singled twice.

Heather Pelletier hit a two-run homer and an RBI single for Bucksport.

At Husson College in Bangor, Jen Gott singled and drove in two runs to lead the Mount Desert Island Trojans.

Erica Curtis doubled, singled twice and drove in two runs for Searsport. Tina Barton doubled and singled twice. Jessie Barton doubled, singled and had two RBIs.

At Howland, Megan Russell hit a grand slam homer and Abbie Bowen fired a six-hitter as Penquis beat Piscataquis of Guilford.

Garnet Korsman’s double and Greta Korsman’s RBI single led the Pirates.
