AUGUSTA — The Maine Federation of Business and Professional Women’s Clubs will hold its 78th annual convention June 4, 5, and 6, at the Senator Inn in Augusta. This year’s convention will be hosted by the members of the Augusta BPW club, with assistance from the Winthrop club. Maine BPW president Nancy E. Davis of Gardiner will preside over the meeting, which begins Friday evening with opening ceremonies and a welcome from Augusta mayor William Dowling Jr.

Saturday’s session will feature election of officers for 1999-2000 and the young careerist “speak-off,” in which three young professionals from different areas of Maine will compete in public speaking. On Saturday, special guest Leslie Wilkins of Wailuku, Hawaii, BPW-USA recording secretary, will conduct the installation of new officers following the annual banquet.

Saturday night activities will include a fund-raising auction to benefit the Futurama Foundation, which provides several annual scholarships.
