Monique Dostie, who runs Jaricot Foster Home [in Lewiston, BDN, May 29-30], needs to be applauded for the stand she takes in wanting high moral standards for her home and for educating the people she takes care of not to have unmarried sexual relations with anyone. If the state thinks the homes providing personal care need to allow sexual relations and pornography, then the state needs to have a list of homes that do allow sex and porn and a list of homes that do not, and then send people needing personal care to whichever type of home they choose.
This would make more sense than revoking Ms. Dostie’s license, especially since the three women in her care have no desire to have sexual relations. Good foster care and other types of homes for personal care are hard to come by. The not-for-profit organization M.A.I.N.E.U.S.A. (Mainers Are In Need Everyday United Standing Altogether) was formed to advocate for people in personal care, and for people providing personal care.
