Bangor to battle Medomak Valley; Bucksport to take on GSA

OLD TOWN – Kori Dionne’s single in the top of the fifth inning delivered the winning run as the No. 5 Bangor Rams knocked off the top-seeded Old Town Indians 3-2 in a Class A softball semifinal Saturday.

Jen Jimmo spun a three-hitter, striking out five for the Rams. Jamie Kenny and Sam Warner had two singles each. Jessica Lewis added an RBI single.

Tara Drinkwater doubled and singled for the Indians and pitched a complete game with five strikeouts. Jamie Higgins laced an RBI single in the first inning.

Medomak Valley 2, Hampden 0

At Waldoboro, Dianne Bither outdueled Jamie Wells by pitching a two-hitter with 10 strikeouts as No. 6 Medomak Valley advanced to the regional championship game.

Emily Emerson tripled and scored in the second inning for the Panthers. Heather Chase singled, stole a base and scored in the sixth.

Wells tossed a four-hitter with three strikeouts for the Broncos. Sharon Ireland and Katie Lindemann each had a single.

George Stevens 10, Cam-Rock 9

At Blue Hill, Jamie Wood tied the game with a two-run single in the bottom of the sixth inning and scored the winning run on an error as top-ranked George Stevens tipped the Windjammers.

Jeanna LeClerc lined three singles and a triple to pace the Eagles. Brooke Keniston added three singles. Sarah Haney added a single, triple and an RBI.

Missy Thompson singled twice and drove in a run for Camden-Rockport. Sarah Dailey launched a solo home run in the sixth inning. Jenn Tooley scored three runs.

Bucksport 2, Ellsworth 1

At Ellsworth, Nikki Sheehan limited No. 2 Ellsworth to six hits as third-seeded Bucksport topped the Eagles.

Annette Caswell drove in the winning run with a second-inning sacrifice fly for the Golden Bucks. Jessica Sawyer singled in Caswell in the first. The Bucksport defense turned two double plays behind Sheehan, including a strikeout-throwout double play to kill a sixth-inning rally.

Lyndsy Patten singled twice, tripled and scored a run for the Eagles, who committed five errors. She also spun a six-hitter.

At Harrington, freshman Ashley Woodward pitched No. 6 Narraguagus into the Eastern Maine final with an eight-hitter, striking out 10 and walking two.

Amber Pinkham drilled a triple and two singles to score two runs for the Knights. Heidi Lyons and Lindsay Portrie notched back-to-back RBI singles in the sixth inning.

Rachel Philio doubled and singled for seventh-seeded Sumner, scoring twice. Jill Osier added two singles and pitched a complete game.

At Milo, Abbie Bowen pitched a five-hitter, striking out seven to run her record to 14-2, as top-seeded Penquis Valley advanced to the Eastern Maine title game.

Bowen aided her own cause with a double, single and two RBIs. Miranda Nichols ripped three singles and knocked in a run. Erynn Bailey singled and doubled with an RBI. Crystal Cail added a pair of singles.

Madeline Pelletier singled and scored for the No. 4 Owls.

Jonesport-Beals 22, DI-Stonington 0

At Jonesport, Tricia Carver fired a one-hitter, striking out seven with two walks, as top-ranked Jonesport-Beals posted the win.

Carver paced the Royalettes at the plate with three singles and three RBIs. Lillian Durkee ripped two singles and knocked in three.

Kim Alley broke up Carver’s no-hit bid with a second-inning single for the No. 4 Mariners.

BC Patriots 13, Fort Fairfield 8

At Orono, No. 6 Bangor Christian rallied for 13 runs in the bottom of the sixth inning, erasing a 7-0 deficit to defeat No. 7 Fort Fairfield.

Rachel Sage slammed two singles and a double to drive in two runs for the Patriots. Lari Sobey and Meredith Moores ripped two singles each. Heidi Niles added a double, two single and an RBI. Renee Mick earned the win with two scoreless innings of relief.

Jessica Ireland singled twice and scored three times for the Tigers.
