Well, another school year has ended and so has a teacher’s career at Downeast School. To the parents of the children who attended Lisa Swett’s kindergarden class, we were sad to say her contract to teach at Downeast next year was not renewed. In times like these we want the best for our children; it is a hame not to give our children the best, and the best is Miss Swett.
Miss Swett worked with children who had a wide range of physical disabilities, ranging from cerebral palsy to attention deficit hyperactivity disorder. My daugher has ADHD; you do not know how hard it is to try to teach a child with ADHD, but Miss Swett did it very well. She also made sure she made time for each and every child and made each one feel special in his or her own special way. The children will never forget her and the parents will never be able to tell her how much she helped our children be more confident in whatever they chose to do.
She will always be one of the most important people in our children’s lives because she got them started out and taught them never to let anyone tell them they cannot do anything. Thank you to Miss Swett for everything she did for our children. We will miss her very much. Mary Henderson Bangor
