HOLDEN – Brian Roach held Eastport hitless over four innings to lead Holbrook to a 29-0 win in the opening round of the District 3 Little League baseball 11- and 12-year-old All-Star tournament Thursday.

Roach struck out six while lining two doubles for Holbrook. Kyle Ferrill smacked a double and triple. Shawn Gray, Dane Woodhead and Erik Whitney had two singles each.

Orono-Veazie 12, Calais 0

At Orono, Dustin Thomas threw a two-hitter over four innings, striking out eight and walking five, and Orono-Veazie received two hits apiece from Andrew Otis, Nathan Faulstick, Ross James and Nick Payson to upend Calais.

Orono-Veazie will host Lincoln on Tuesday at 5:30.

Otis tripled and singled and drove in two runs, James doubled and singled and knocked home two, Payson had three RBIs on a pair of singles and Faulstick doubled and singled.

Jon King and Andrew Johnson singled for Calais.

Glenburn 6, Border 2

At Glenburn, Brett Stuart fired a four-hitter, striking out 11 and walking just one, to lead Glenburn past Border.

Glenburn will travel to face Millinocket on Tuesday at 5:30.

Border received an RBI double from Mitchell Hall and singles from Ben Stewart, Thibodeau and Matt Anderson.

Tory Dearborn’s double and Chris Harding’s single were the lone Glenburn hits off Border’s Matt Thibodeau.

Old Town 4, Bangor West 3, 7 inn.

At Hampden, Jarrett Lukas ripped an RBI single with two out in the bottom of the seventh inning as Old Town knocked off Bangor West in the District 3 tournament.

Lukas pitched a three-hitter, striking out 12 for Old Town and added a triple. Sean Babin and Josh Clukey had one single each.

Gary Webb drilled a double to pace Bangor West. Kevin Vanidestine and Shawn Walton added singles.

At Hampden, Adam Anderson pitched a four-inning no-hitter, striking out nine to lift Katahdin to the win over Calais.

Anderson had four hits for Katahdin with a double and three singles to drive in three runs.

Bucksport 13, Bangor East 3

At Hampden, Chris Maguire homered and doubled to drive in three runs as Bucksport defeated Bangor East.

Joe Soper added three RBIs with a triple and single for Bucksport. Todd Freeman doubled and singled to drive in two runs while Alex Yates lined two singles.

Jo Jo Hwalek singled to drive in a run for Bangor East.

Glenburn 11, Acadia 7

At Hampden, Brad Brown went five innings, striking out seven to lead Glenburn past Acadia of Bar Harbor.

Adam Treadwell singled and drove in a run for Glenburn. Reid McLaughlin and Brown had one single each.

For Acadia, Andrew Veilleux tripled to drive in two runs. Parker Harris ripped an RBI single.

At Hampden, Alex Gallant pitched a complete game, striking out 12, and added two singles and an RBI as Hermon topped Brewer.

Brent Dorrity doubled and singled to pace the Hampden offense. Matt Berry hit a two-run single and Michael Weiner notched a double.

Marc Relford doubled to drive in a run for Brewer. Dave Perry hit two singles and Mike Kotredes added a double.

Millinocket 8, Holbrook 5

At Hampden, Jeff Osborne singled to drive in a pair of runs as Millinocket edged Holbrook of Holden.

Travis Martin and Deanna Michaud had a single each for Millinocket. Jordan Burleigh pitched a three-hitter to earn the win.

Todd Ferrell smacked a double to pace Holbrook. Gregg Higgins and Brandon Gray had one single each.

Softball, 11-12

Sunrise 17, Holbrook 6

At Narraguagus High in Harrington, Jody Pinkham slammed a three-run homer in the third innining and added a single to lift Sunrise of Milbridge.

Sondra Klausmeyer hit an RBI double for the winners.

Kelly Crotty led Holbrook of Holden with two singles and eight strikeouts in the loss.

Bangor East 21, Glenburn 11

At Glenburn, Whitney Strout drove in six runs with a homer, two doubles and a single as Bangor East triumphed.

Morgan Wren had a double and a single and drove in two runs for Bangor East and Lauren Tracy had a double and two RBIs. Ashley Martin went the distance for the win, scattering five hits.

Ashley Andrews had a three-run triple and Robyn Tinkham had an RBI double for Glenburn, which will visit Holbrook on Tuesday.

At Hermon, Taqqiya Ronco led a 15-hit attack with four singles as Bangor West pounded Hermon in the first round of the District 3 Little League softball tournament.

Jen Folsom slapped three singles for Bangor West and Kate Turner added two doubles and a single.

Cassie White paced Hermon with two singles. Ashley Getchell added one single.
