I just read that Augusta passed a new law on restraining pets in open vehicles (BDN, July 9). Why not include cars in this new restraining law? How often do you see pets jumping from the back seat to the front seat in a car while it’s moving over the road, or the pet is sitting in the lap of the driver while they are going down the highway?

If they are going to cover one type of vehicle, why not cover them all? Pets on the loose are very dangerous in any type of vehicle. Royal Henderson Bangor
