MACHIAS – Neil Rainey hammered a two-run double during a four-run third inning as Bucksport edged Machias 4-2 in District 3 11-12 Little League baseball action.

Joe Robicheau tossed a three-hitter for Bucksport with seven strikeouts and two walks. Nye Gifford added an RBI single.

B.J. Wilcox lined a two-run single to pace Machias.

Orono-Veazie 6, Bangor East 2

At Orono, Nathan Faulstick fired a four-hitter with seven strikeouts as Orono-Veazie advanced with a win over Bangor East.

Duston Thomas blasted a solo home run for Orono-Veazie. Tommy Keefe doubled and Nick Payson contributed a single and RBI. Andrew Otis stole home in the third inning.

Chris Muir tripled and singled to pace Bangor East. Jordan Heath posted an Orono-Veazie (4-0) 004 011 – 6 7 1 Bangor East (2-1) 100 001 – 2 4 2

Camden-Rockport 7, Belfast 5

At Belfast, Carlo Light-Lookner smacked a grand slam in the fifth inning, lifting Camden-Rockport to the win over Belfast in District 2.

Light-Lookner finished 3-for-4, adding a single and double for Camden-Rockport. Steve Pearson blasted a solo home run and Mike O’Hara notched a single.

Josh Gallant went 3-for-3 with two RBIs for Belfast, which was eliminated. Matt Wood singled twice and Sam Ellis had an RBI single.

At Old Town, Kara Holland doubled, singled twice and drove in two runs to help lift Bangor past Old Town.

Sam Warner hit a double and two singles for one RBI for the winners. Kari Friedenberg each had an RBI single.

Old Town’s Meghan King doubled and drove in a run. Erin Ouellette recorded a sacrifice fly and Jamie Higgins and Jessica Paul both singled.

At Machias, Daphne Nichols tossed an eight-hitter as Machias eliminated Old Town in Little League softball action.

Ashley Day tripled and Monique St. Pierre added two singles to pace the Machias offense.

Monica Hussey slammed a two-run homer and a single for Old Town. Jen Higgins contributed two singles.

At Bangor, Meghan Chase and Jenny Jimmo drove in three runs each as Bangor knocked off Acadian of Mount Desert Island in the Junior League softball tournament.

Chase ripped a double and single and Jenny Jimmo had two singles for Bangor. Megan McCrum notched a triple, two singles and two RBIs. Heidi Baker added two singles and a double.

Bracy Barker singled three times for Acadian. Deidra Damon csingles and two RBIs. Jamie Garver added a double.

At Mansfield Stadium, Bangor, Jason Thomas threw a four-hitter, pitching Bangor to the win over Holbrook of Holden in Senior League baseball action.

Derek Watson hit two doubles and knocked in two runs for Bangor. Kevin Proctor notched a double and single with two RBIs. Jared Hockman, Brian Clarke and Thomas had a single and two RBIs each.

Andy Tremble singled in a run for Holbrook, which was eliminated.

Orono-Veazie 12, Old Town 11

At Mansfield Stadium, Bangor, Cole McElwain singled with two outs and the bases loaded in the bottom of the eighth inning, lifting Orono-Veazie to the win over Old Town.

McElwain picked up the win in relief, pitching five innings of one-run, three hit ball for Orono-Veazie. Evan James lined three singles and added two RBIs. Ryan Levesque, Josh Keefe (RBI) and McElwain had two singles apiece.

Chris Degrasse ripped a double and single to drive in two runs for Old Town. Nick Aucoin registered two singles and Andy Pease singled for two RBIs.

At Mansfield Stadium, Bangor, Phil Cayford tossed a five-hitter striking out 19 as Hermon ended Hampden’s Junior League tournament run.

Matt Joy singled and knocked in a run for Hermon. Adam Duplissea and Cayford had one single each.

Josh McGuire and Kyle Dalton each had a double and single for Hampden. Alex Rand notched an RBI single.
