MACHIAS – Amanda Treadwell and Sam Besse hit two singles apiece as Glenburn eliminated Machias with a 14-11 win in 9- and 10-year-old softball action on Thursday.

Kristen Munson went the distance for the win.

Whitney Hayward had a triple and three singles for Machias. Stephanie Whitman added a double and two singles while Britini St. Louis had three singles. Kelsey Kurz tripled and singled and Kayla Wood notched two singles.

Bangor 16, Old Town 0

At Old Town, Maureen Capehart ripped three singles and knocked in a pair of runs as Bangor knocked off Old Town in Little League softball action.

Katy MacDonald singled twice and drove in two runs for Bangor. Amy Hackett tripled in two runs and Allison Wicks struck out six in four innings to earn the win.

Holly Higgins posted a double to pace Old Town.

Hampden 2, Acadian 1

At Bar Harbor, Chris Pease fired a no-hitter, striking out eight as Hampden advanced with a win over Acadian of Mount Desert Island.

Jason Huntley plated the winning run with a single in the first inning for Hampden. Pease added an RBI single.

Dan Lyons and Jake Willis combined on a five-hitter with eight strikeouts for Acadian.

Bangor 10, Millinocket 1

At Mansfield Stadium, Bangor, Jared Hockman pitched a six-hitter with five strikeouts as Bangor eliminated Millinocket from the Senior League baseball tournament.

Chris Bombardier singled twice and knocked in two runs for Bangor. Derek Watson doubled and singled to drive in one run. Hockman ripped two singles with one RBI.

Ryan Sweeney doubled to pace Millinocket as five others had one single apiece.

Acadian 11, Hampden 7

At Mansfield Stadium, Brandon Colbeth drove in two runs with a double and a single to help Acadian eliminate Hampden.

Gabe Westphal doubled for the winners and Josh Gray contributed an RBI single.

Andrew Williams’ single was Hampden’s lone hit.
