WASHINGTON — The Dover-Foxcroft man who was taken to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston by helicopter from a Route 17 accident remained in critical condition Thursday, according to a hospital spokeswoman.
Karl Harrington, 48, was injured when he crossed the center line in his 1988 Dodge station wagon, sideswiped an oncoming 1-ton dump truck and hit the truck’s rear axle. The dual tire axle was ripped off the truck, flew into the station wagon windshield and sheared off its roof, according to Knox County Sheriff’s Department investigators.
The truck driver, Roderick Dill, 34, of Augusta suffered minor injuries in the Wednesday morning crash. The accident, which is still under investigation, was reconstructed by Maine State Police. It usually takes several weeks for those findings and to receive blood-alcohol test results.
