Bangor East’s Cox one-hits Augusta

MILLINOCKET – Jordan Heath scored in the second inning on the game’s only error to help Bangor East stay alive with a 1-0 victory over Augusta East Sunday in the Little League ages 11-12 state tournament. Augusta East was eliminated.

Jimmy Cox fanned seven and walked two for the win. Heath and Chris Muir each singled for Bangor East.

Chris Carville and Chris Gay singled for Augusta East’s only hits. Carville struck out 10 and walked one.

West Biddeford 1, Cape Elizabeth 0

At Millinocket, Taylor Nugent scored on a wild pitch in the bottom of the first inning as West Biddeford got by Cape Elizabeth.

Kevin Elwell doubled and struck out four in the three-hitter.

Drake Livada hit a double for Cape.

Augusta East 5, Waldo 3

At Millinocket Saturday, Thomas Yerrick hit a two-run double in the first inning to help Augusta East earn the win and eliminate Waldo.

Chris Caroule hit a double and a single for the winners. Chris Gay, Casey Tuttle and Zach Logan each added two singles.

Waldo’s Ryan Schute drove in two runs on a single in the first inning. Patrick Moran and Cliff Gardner each doubled and singled.

Cape Elizabeth 4, Bangor East 3

At Millinocket Saturday, Joe Geoghegan’s RBI double in the bottom of the sixth inning scored Alex Moran and lifted Cape Elizabeth to the win.

Moran and Nick Freed both hit a double for Cape. Geoghegan added a single.

Jordan Heath led Bangor East with a double.

Waldo County 17, Knox 4

At Frankfort, Waldo County combined timely hitting with 17 walks to knock Knox out of the tournament.

Ross Curry hit a bases-loaded triple in a four-run first inning and Waldo County went on to score runs in every inning in the game. Dustin Gardner had a two-run home run while Caleb Ashey had three hits including two doubles and two runs batted in.

Lee Radcliffe had a pair of singles for Knox.
