Parade, fireworks, dance to mark bridge opening

SULLIVAN — The opening celebration of the new Hancock-Sullivan Bridge will be Saturday.

Festivities begin at 7 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 7, with a breakfast at the Sorrento Sullivan Recreational Center.

A parade will begin at 11 a.m. and will cross the bridge, which replaces the famed Singing Bridge over Route 1. The day will end with a fireworks display at 9:15 p.m. in memory of Linwood A. and Mary O. Gray, followed by a dance at the recreation center.
